Friendship is a lot like food. We need social interactions to stay healthy and happy. However, at some point everyone feels lonely- after a break-up or when moving.
But chronic loneliness can pose physical and mental health risks. So what can you do to feel more connected and less isolated?
Recognize the lonely feelings and express them. Try writing in a diary, writing imaginary letters, drawing or anything else to express those feelings.
Become more active. Contact family, friends or just talk to someone like a pastor, teacher or doctor. Also, try phone calls or face-to-face meetings instead of texting or social media.
Get involved in activities, clubs or sports that interest you to become more comfortable meeting different people and help you feel less lonely.
