As a CCBHC, we place a special emphasis on serving active service duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans, and their family members. We understand that seeking behavioral health services can pose unique challenges for military-connected clients. We have designated Military and Veterans Liaisons who are veterans themselves, and who can help clients access VA benefits and other resources. Our Liaisons can also support clients and their KBH staff in addressing particular challenges that may come up during their treatment.

It is our goal to ensure that every person who comes to KBH for services receives the best quality of care in the way that is best suited to their own particular goals and needs.

Our Person- and Family-Centered approach means we work together with each client to develop a treatment plan that reflects their own unique strengths and goals. We emphasize shared decision-making, and we involve family members and other key supports according to what the client wants.

Services that are family-focused also emphasize the important role of family in the service planning process for children. We focus not only on the wellbeing and developmental needs of the child, but also on supporting relationships among the child, family, and service providers as well, promoting greater overall wellbeing.

Our KBH Access Center Specialists conduct an initial screening and risk assessment for every new client to immediately identify their needs, to determine whether emergency or urgent services are needed, and to provide an initial diagnosis that helps guide the services the person wishes to receive. This can be done in person, by phone, or virtually.

If services are needed urgently but the situation is not an emergency, a KBH provider can respond within 24 hours. And for “routine” needs, we make sure that the initial screenings and assessment are completed within 10 days of the time we receive a referral.
