Wraparound Maine
Children and youth who are at-risk for out-of-home placement are referred for a facilitated, team-based service that supports a comprehensive family-driven planning process. A team of people, involved in the life of the youth, family and community, creates and implements a plan that includes a mix of formal and natural supports to keep the child or youth at home and a part of the community.
Wraparound Maine services refer to a highly detailed planning and implementation process for children that begins with training and coaching of the providers of the team-based service. Those providers are overseen by a Community Mobilization Team to assure community involvement in the process. The Maine chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness organizes and oversees the Community Mobilization Team.
Kennebec Behavioral Health has established measurable performance targets for decreasing the number of children placed in residential care, decreasing incarceration and detention, improving school participation, high school graduations, decreasing hospitalization, and crisis services. Increasing social activities and connections and preparing youth for adult living and workforce entry are supported.
Wraparound Maine services in Kennebec and Somerset counties expands case planning for children, youth and families with complex needs and increases KBH’s ability to include more community partners, especially informal and natural supports to meet the needs of these children and families. |
